Don’t be a Victim of Phishing Scam

Nowadays, criminals find ways to obtain financial information through text messages, social media accounts and even emails. Most of the time these unknown emails go straight to spam folder but there are times you will see this in your inbox. Bad guys copied legitimate websites and emails so if you will not check carefully, you might fall for this scam.

Last January 21, I received an email from bpiexpress@bpi.com.ph. I retype the message so you can read the sample clearly but I did not change any word.

After two days, I received another letter from expressonline@bpi.com.ph. They are using BPI Logo but still, it doesn’t look legit.

Why I did not believe this letter?

1. Reading the email is enough proof that this is not from BPI, just check the grammar and how they compose the letter.

2. They send this to my blog email address not my personal email.

3. I don’t have any credit card with BPI.

But if you have credit cards with BPI or any credit card company, don’t be a victim of Phishing scam. Don't click anything nor give any personal information.

  1. Haaay, grabe talaga sila. Ito ang downside ng online transactions e. risky pag dating sa phishing. Sana di mangyari satin 'to. If the BPI letter will be sent to me, baka mapataas din ako ng kilay at wala akong credit card sa kanila. lol.

  2. I agree! The criminals nowadays are techy na rin. I also receive phishing emails from time to time and it sometimes goes stright to SPAM emails din. I always double check emails when it's from a bank or whenever it's asking for confidential information. I do not just click on linked text as it may be a way for them to steal my information away. I am super cautious talaga especially when it's about my financial info. Mahirap na.

  3. Kakatakot mag online transaction. Been victimized last New year's when I booked for a hotel. Good thing BDO refunded my 7k. Learned my lessons not to do online transaction again - ever.

  4. Yes, be careful of phishing. I was a victim of that, too, once, but the casualty was my blog. Buti na lang magaling ang host ko. She was able to clean it up, restore everything. Kaya lang nung umpisa, when I share, image pa rin ng blog share ko sa FB was still the attacker's. It was very annoying.
